This weekends Full Tilt poker tournament made history with its $25,000 Heads-Up Championships. It was the largest buy-in for an online tournament ever. Many professional, young and old took part in making poker history. The winner of the $560,000 and honor of first place victory was David Singer. Second place honors and $360,000 went to Emil “Whitelime” Patel.
The finalists were:
David Singer who has been playing professionally for over 12 years. He previously had a career as a lawyer. He has won over $3.5 million during his poker career. While obviously finding financial success, it is hard to believe that this is Singers first tournament win. He played a great game and should be very proud.
Emil “whitelime” Patel who is only 21 years of age. This online poker maverick put up quite a fight. This second place victory is a large honor for this young player.
Andy Bloch, a MIT and Harvard law graduate who has won over 2.8 million in his career. He donated $100,000 of his Pro-Am Equalizer winnings to charities benefiting Darfur. He has been playing poker his entire life.
Brian Hastings, the youngest competitor in our championship at only 19 years of age. Some call him an online phenomenon with over $100,000 in winnings. Hastings is an economics major at Cornell University.
All the finalists were guaranteed to make $168,000.
It really came down to the last few hands with both competitors playing their best game. Strategy is really what both won and lost this one for our competitors. Whitelime stood out during the entire match and played an outstanding game. This was an exciting tournament and both played superbly.
All the competitors played an outstanding game and each should be proud of being a part of this epic tournament. Everyone who participated made poker history.
