Duplicate Poker Deals Final Hand

Poker News, Poker Rooms

DuplicatePoker.com was not your ordinary poker site. It offered players a novel new way of enjoying the game of online poker – a way that emphasized the game’s element of skill over luck. But unfortunately, the folks behind the scenes at Duplicate Poker were not so skillful, or lucky, at keeping their online poker room, however unique, afloat.

Duplicate Poker has officially closed it cyber-doors, citing the current global credit crisis as the reason for the shut-down. This after just announcing 2 weeks prior that the site had accumulated an impressive 250,000 player base.

Having touted itself as the only legal poker room in the U.S., DuplicatePoker.com’s unique approach to the game of online poker had players competing with players at other tables, with each player in the same position at every table being dealt the same hand – the objective being to do better with that hand at your table than any player at any other table with the same hand.

It may have been an innovative enough approach to attract a-quarter million online poker players, but that’s now a-quarter-of-a-million players who’ll be seeking a new table elsewhere to sit in at.

Farewell, DuplicatePoker. And too bad about this unfortuante bad beat.
