For the fifth year in a row, Absolute Poker will be hosting the UBOC Online Championship of poker, starting August 18, 2010, running for 12 days, covering 20 tournaments, with a total guaranteed prize pool up for grabs of $4 million.

Each of the 20 events in UBOC 5 will be hosted by own of Absolute Poker’s celebrity pros, and the tournament schedule will include a $1,050 deepstack six-max championship and a $1,050 heads-up championship, as well as events in Omaha, mixed game, and Absolute Poker’s own Sniper tournament style, among others. It’s all leading up, of course, to the $1 million guaranteed main event on Sunday, August 29, a $1,050 Monster Stack NL Holdem event.

In addition to the $4 million guaranteed prize pool, players will also be competing on a Leader Board for bonus cash prizes and awards.

The Absolute Poker UBOC 5 equivalent of the World Series of Poker bracelet (and by some standards a more practical trophy) is a commemorative watch. These will be distributed to the winners of the UBOC 5 events, to the Mini-UBOC 5 Championship Main Event winner, and to the UBOC 5 and Mini-UBOC 5 Leader Board champions.

Satellites into the various UBOC 5 events are running now at Absolute Poker, which by the way is one of the webs best poker sites.

Attention all AbsolutePoker players (and would-be Absolute Poker players)–one of the world’s top poker sites is now no longer offering exclusively poker but Blackjack as well.

Now Absolute Poker players wishing to take a break from the poker tables but not from online card playing altogether can hop on over to the AbsolutePoker Blackjack room for a little 21 action.

There’s even a whole Tournament Blackjack option for serious Blackjack players, combining the best of poker tournaments and the game of Blackjack. In Absolute Poker’s Blackjack Tournaments players still compete against the dealer, but at the 8th, 16th, and 25th hands, the players with the smallest chip stacks are eliminated, ultimately leaving one player “standing” as that BlackJack Tournament’s big winner.

To make this new online casino gaming innovation even sweeter, each player in an AbsolutePoker Blackjack Tournament can place one Secret Bet per tournament, betting as many chips from their stack as they like, without the other players at the table being made aware of their bet.

What’s more, players at the Absolute Poker Blackjack tables are still able to accumulate Loyalty points to add to their VIP Club account, added to the points they earn at AbsolutePoker’s poker tables.

Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker have closed their doors – to players residing in Kentucky, that is. But don’t blame UltimateBet.com or AbsolutePoker.com for it.

This is the first in the online poker world’s reluctant efforts to comply with the recent court ruling threatening to close down all poker rooms one-by-one who continue to take money away from the governor’s budget and put it in the pot for anyone – anywhere – to win.

After seizing 141 domain names, UltimateBet and AbsolutePoker among them, the Kentucky government had the industry by a stranglehold.

But as UltimateBet and AbsolutePoker have so elegantly proven, it’s only the people of Kentucky who are going to suffer from this maneuver, ultimately. The rest of us will keep on playing.

Of course, Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker aren’t about to leave their loyal Kentucky contingent behind, however. An appeal is scheduled for December 12.
